LE CORBUSIER- TOWARDS A NEW ARCHITECTURE

This book is written by Le Corbusier, whose real name is Charles-Édouard Jeanneret . He is an architect, artist , writer and he is a very important person for modern architecture. Even now his designs are important for all of the architects.

When we are assigned to read that book at first I tought that its language will be very formal and the writer will always write compliments about architects. But the book was different than I expected.  Writers language was interesting , it was like he is trying to start a fight and it was like he wants to get all the architects reaction. He was saying good things about engineers and this was unexpected.

In the book , according to me the most important thing was corpusier’s three reminders to architects. The three reminder is ; mass , surface and the plan. First one is mass. His toughts about mass is interesting he says that primary forms are good because they are understandable. But he toughts that architects are not doing this , engineers do with their geometry and mathematics.

Second thing is surface. He says that surface should be devided with the lines according to the mass. Architects should solve their problems with geometry. But he thinks that engineers use geometry better than architects.

Last one is the plan, he says that plan is the thing which organizes everything about project.

 

POSTER

This is the first product that I made with the photoshop. I decided to choose this image because there were two things that I need to put in that poster; title and the small text, and there was two suitable empty space in that photograph for this. I choose to made title very big because a posters aim is to make people read it; so a big, legible title is good for this. In the text, some parts are big and some are small because I thought that with the help of this differences, my text can take much more attention. And I choose the color red because of the same reasons, red is an attractive color.

STUDIOS HANDBOOK

At first, I want to say that it was fun to read that handbook, I thınk it’s because of colorful pages and funny caricatures. In general, the didactic stuff lıke that makes us bored but this was different , I especially lıked the way that handbook defınes architecture and I underlined some sentences because they were sooo good . Its language was not so formal, this is a good thing too. 

ABOUT THE POSTER ;

According to me, its colors are attracting so this is a good thing for this kind of posters. But the yellow part is bigger, purple part and yellow part are not equal so this irritates me a little bit. About the size of words; title is big and the instructions are smaller I liked the hıerarchy between the words, it helps us understand the poster better and easily. But there are white words on yellow, its hard to read them and this part gives the information about date and place so people should be able to read and understand this part easily, it is the most important thing about this poster. I think this is a problem.
